What it is for
A mug is the gift that gets used every morning. It sits on a desk or a counter, so the design is seen by the person who received it more than by anyone else.
Handles and the rim are not printed; the wrap stops a little short of the handle on both sides.
Laser engraving
A laser removes a surface coating or marks the material itself. Nothing is added, so nothing can wear off.
The result is one tone: the colour of the material underneath. There is no colour printing.
The design is cut into the surface; you can feel it with a fingertip on most materials.
Designs that suit it
The print wraps around the body. A design about twice as wide as it is tall fills it; a single image can be placed on one side, or repeated so it shows whichever hand holds the mug.
The print area is on the front: 454 × 379 pixels, about 1.5 × 1.3 in at 300 dpi — a roughly square area. The studio generates the design at that size, so it is printed from a full-resolution file rather than an enlarged preview.
Names, dates, monograms, line art and silhouettes. Less suited: colour, soft shading and photographs, unless converted to a high-contrast line or dot version first.

How long does the Speckled Wayland Ceramic Mug, 13oz take to arrive?
To Canada, 5–15 business days, with first-item shipping at $21.22 CAD; to the US, 2–5 business days ($9.99 CAD). It is printed to order in Miami, FL, United States, and the window counts from the day you order, printing included.
Can I put a photo on the Speckled Wayland Ceramic Mug, 13oz?
Only as a high-contrast version. Engraving has a single tone, so a photograph needs to be turned into line work or a dot pattern; faces and fine shading lose detail. The print file is 454 × 379 pixels on the front, so a photo should be at least that size to print sharply.
