The window

An order moves through four states: placed, in production, dispatched, delivered. What you can change depends only on which state it is in, and your orders shows the current one.

Why the window is so short

Because production starts almost immediately. An order typically reaches a partner’s queue within two hours of payment, and some items are on a press inside thirty minutes. That speed is the reason a personalised blanket can arrive in a week; the cost of it is that there is no warehouse period in which to change your mind.

We do not hold orders back to create a cancellation window. Slowing every order down so that a small number can be cancelled is a bad trade for everyone else.

How to do it

Open the order in your orders and use “Cancel” or “Change address”. If the button is gone, the state has moved past it. Emailing hello@makevessim.com is slower and, in the first two hours, usually too slow — use the page.

Address changes specifically

An address can be corrected right up until the partner prints the shipping label, which is after production but before dispatch. That gives a window measured in days rather than hours for most items, and it is the single most useful change to catch late.

Once the label exists, the parcel is committed. If it is already in transit, most carriers let the recipient redirect it from the tracking page — that route is open to them even when it is closed to us.

When we cancel

Occasionally a partner discontinues a product between your order and production, or a design is stopped at the second check under acceptable use. In both cases you are refunded in full including shipping, you are told which it was, and in the first case we will offer the nearest equivalent product before cancelling.

The better moment

Redesigns are free and unlimited before you order, so the time to be fussy is while the design is still on screen. Nothing is charged, nothing is queued, and you can run the same sentence as many times as you like. After payment, the options narrow quickly — not as a policy, but as a fact about objects.
