What it is for
A blanket is the most physical gift there is: used every night on a couch or a bed, and the thing people reach for when they are unwell or sad.
Plush and sherpa surfaces soften fine detail slightly; bold images look best.
Embroidery
Embroidery stitches the design in polyester thread. The artwork is converted into stitch paths, one thread colour at a time.
Colours are thread colours — a limited set, typically up to around a dozen in one design — so gradients and photographs cannot be reproduced.
The design is raised and textured, and it outlasts any ink: it will not crack, peel or fade in the wash.
Designs that suit it
Large photographs, paintings and patterns all work at blanket size. The whole face is printed, so the edges of the design show.
The print area is on the bottom left: 1,800 × 1,800 pixels, about 6.0 × 6.0 in at 300 dpi — a roughly square area. The studio generates the design at that size, so it is printed from a full-resolution file rather than an enlarged preview.
Monograms, initials, short words, simple logos and bold shapes. Less suited: photographs, gradients and lettering smaller than about 5 mm tall, which closes up in thread.
Sentences that would suit it

“Matching Christmas jumpers for the Patels, merry and bright”
Example design by Vessim. Shown on our example velveteen plush blanket.

“A home quote with our family name for the new house”
Example design by Vessim. Shown on our example velveteen plush blanket.

“Our initials and wedding date, elegant, gold and green”
Example design by Vessim. Shown on our example velveteen plush blanket.
Examples by Vessim: public-domain art and our own lettering, not studio output. The studio designs yours from your sentence.
Where it is printed, and when it arrives
It is printed to order in Monroe, NC, United States, then shipped: 10–30 business days to Canada ($29.30 CAD for the first item) and 2–5 business days to the US ($16.70 CAD). Each window counts from the day the order is placed and includes printing.
Printed in North America, so it ships without an overseas leg and no import duties apply within North America.
To arrive by Christmas 2026 with standard shipping, order by November 13 for Canada and December 18 for the US — that is the Cali Throw's own longest window counted back from December 25.
How it compares with our other blankets and throws
- Of the 41 blankets and throws in the catalogue, 23 cost less and 17 cost more.
- 1 of them comes in more colours than its 6.
- Its longest delivery time to Canada, 30 business days, is longer than the family's median of 15; 29 other blankets and throws arrive sooner.
- 36 of the 41 are printed in North America, this one included.

Looking after it
- Spot clean where you can; a cap or beanie keeps its shape best out of the machine.
- If you must wash it, cold and by hand, then reshape and air dry.
- Do not iron over the stitches.
Before you order
How long does the Cali Throw take to arrive?
To Canada, 10–30 business days, with first-item shipping at $29.30 CAD; to the US, 2–5 business days ($16.70 CAD). It is printed to order in Monroe, NC, United States, and the window counts from the day you order, printing included.
Can I put a photo on the Cali Throw?
No. Thread cannot reproduce a photograph or a gradient. A photo can be simplified into a bold outline or silhouette, which embroiders well. The print file is 1800 × 1800 pixels on the bottom left, so a photo should be at least that size to print sharply.
What colours does the Cali Throw come in?
6 colours: Aquamarine/ White, Deep Black/ White, Hibiscus/ White, Monument Grey/ White, Sunflower Yellow/ White, Aegean Blue/ White.
When should I order the Cali Throw for Christmas?
With standard shipping, by November 13 to Canada and December 18 to the US. Those dates count this product's longest delivery window back from December 25 in business days. Express shipping at checkout, where it is offered, shortens the window.
How do I look after the Cali Throw?
It is embroidered, and that sets the care. Spot clean where you can; a cap or beanie keeps its shape best out of the machine. If you must wash it, cold and by hand, then reshape and air dry. Do not iron over the stitches.
