What it is for
An ornament is the Christmas gift that comes back out every year. A dated one becomes part of a family's history.
Order by the cutoff on this page if it is meant for this year's tree.
Dye sublimation
Sublimation prints the design onto transfer paper with dye ink; heat then turns the dye into a gas that bonds into a polyester coating or polyester fibre.
Colour becomes part of the surface rather than a layer on top, so it is vivid and does not crack or peel. It cannot print white: white in a design shows as the colour of the item itself, which is why sublimated items are white or pale.
There is no texture at all — on fabric you cannot feel the print, and on a mug it is under a smooth coating.
Designs that suit it
A name, a year and a small picture on a small face. Simple, high-contrast designs read from across a room.
The print area is on the front: 1,276 × 957 pixels, about 4.3 × 3.2 in at 300 dpi — a wide, landscape area. The studio generates the design at that size, so it is printed from a full-resolution file rather than an enlarged preview.
Full-colour photographs, paintings and edge-to-edge patterns. Less suited: designs that rely on white ink, and important detail right at seams, handles or edges where the transfer wraps.

Before you order
How long does the Aluminum Ornaments, 1pc take to arrive?
It does not currently ship to Canada; to the US, 10–30 business days ($33.96 CAD). It is printed to order in Newton Abbot, Devon, United Kingdom, and the window counts from the day you order, printing included.
Can I put a photo on the Aluminum Ornaments, 1pc?
Yes. Sublimation reproduces photographs in full colour with no texture. White areas print as the item's own colour, so a photo with a white background blends into it. The print file is 1276 × 957 pixels on the front, so a photo should be at least that size to print sharply.
When should I order the Aluminum Ornaments, 1pc for Christmas?
With standard shipping, by November 13 to the US. Those dates count this product's longest delivery window back from December 25 in business days. Express shipping at checkout, where it is offered, shortens the window.
