What it is for
A mug is the gift that gets used every morning. It sits on a desk or a counter, so the design is seen by the person who received it more than by anyone else.
Handles and the rim are not printed; the wrap stops a little short of the handle on both sides.
Dye sublimation
Sublimation prints the design onto transfer paper with dye ink; heat then turns the dye into a gas that bonds into a polyester coating or polyester fibre.
Colour becomes part of the surface rather than a layer on top, so it is vivid and does not crack or peel. It cannot print white: white in a design shows as the colour of the item itself, which is why sublimated items are white or pale.
There is no texture at all — on fabric you cannot feel the print, and on a mug it is under a smooth coating.
Designs that suit it
The print wraps around the body. A design about twice as wide as it is tall fills it; a single image can be placed on one side, or repeated so it shows whichever hand holds the mug.
The print area is on the front: 2,550 × 1,125 pixels, about 8.5 × 3.8 in at 300 dpi — a wide, landscape area. The studio generates the design at that size, so it is printed from a full-resolution file rather than an enlarged preview.
Full-colour photographs, paintings and edge-to-edge patterns. Less suited: designs that rely on white ink, and important detail right at seams, handles or edges where the transfer wraps.

Can I put a photo on the Accent Mugs, 11oz?
Yes. Sublimation reproduces photographs in full colour with no texture. White areas print as the item's own colour, so a photo with a white background blends into it. The print file is 2550 × 1125 pixels on the front, so a photo should be at least that size to print sharply.
